Eastern Michigan University was founded in 1849. The campus is adjacent to our community and sits on 460 acres. Throughout the year there are many community activities to enjoy from music concerts to theater or just taking a stroll on the beautiful campus. Click here for a calendar of events.
Depot Town was opened in 1838 with the train depot connecting Ypsilanti to Detroit. The buildings date from 1850 to 1880 and house many of Ypsilanti's restaurants and shops. You can grocery shop at the Food Co-op, enjoy bake goods and coffee at Cultivate, visit the many antique shops or dine at the famous Sidetracks. All within a couple of blocks from our community.
Riverside is a 13.8 acre park on the Huron River linking Depot Town and the Downtown Business District. It is home to various annual events, such as Heritage Festival, Elvis Fest, and several automotive events. It is a great place to enjoy a bike ride or have a picnic. Adjacent to the park and connected by a walking bridge is Frog Island, a 5 acre island with an amphitheater and community gardens.
